BREAK-IN BUST: Police swooped just after midnight on January 19 in Retford, nabbing a suspect caught loitering near cars and homes on West Furlong.
Suspect Arrested on Suspicion of Burglary
Officers responding to the tip-off quickly arrested Robert Brammer, 52, from Harworth, Doncaster. Brammer now faces one count of burglary and two counts of attempted burglary linked to a previous break-in on Trinity Road.
Charged with Assault on Police Officer
Adding to his woes, Brammer was charged with assaulting a police officer while in custody. He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on January 20 and was remanded in custody ahead of a Crown Court hearing on February 17.
Police Praise Swift Action and Public Vigilance
“Investigating burglaries is a force priority, and I am pleased that we have been able to charge a suspect so quickly,” said Detective Constable Mark Duncombe of Nottinghamshire Police. “Strangers have violated the homes and lives of robbery victims, and we are determined to get justice for them.”
Inspector Hayley Crawford, district commander for Bassetlaw, added, “I would like to praise the very swift police response in this case, as well as the member of the public who got in touch to report their suspicions to us. As this case demonstrates, we act decisively when we suspect such offences are taking place.”
