Knife-Wielding Thief Steals Car in Eastwood
Police were called to Newmanley Road South in Eastwood after a car was reported stolen in a terrifying knifepoint robbery. The victim was parked by the roadside when a thug threatened him with a blade and forced him out of the vehicle just after midnight on Saturday, 18 March.
Stolen Car Spotted and Seized in Derbyshire
The stolen car was driven off towards Long Lane but was spotted by officers at around 3.25 a.m. in Heanor, Derbyshire. Police quickly stopped the vehicle and arrested 36-year-old Anthony Fletcher.
Multiple Charges for Heanor Man
Fletcher, from Milward Road, faces several charges, including robbery, carrying an offensive weapon in public, driving under the influence of alcohol, refusing to give a specimen for analysis, and failing to cooperate with a preliminary test.
On Monday, 20 March, Fletcher appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody. He is set to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 17 April.
Police Praise Swift Action
Detective Sergeant Georgie Gallagher said, “Thanks to our officers, we were able to locate a stolen car and return it to its owner within a few hours. Robbery is a terrible crime that can have long-term consequences for victims, so we’re glad we were able to charge a suspect and bring them before the courts.”
