Man Seriously Injured in Shocking Yarrow Close Incident

Kent Police were called to Yarrow Close on Monday 8 January 2024 at around 12:15pm after reports of a man being treated by ambulance crews. Witnesses told police they heard loud bangs that sounded like gunshots, but no firearms were found at the scene.

Disturbance Ends With Collision and Serious Injuries

The chaos reportedly started during a disturbance involving a group of people, which was followed by a car colliding with a man. The victim suffered multiple injuries, including a fractured leg, and was rushed to hospital. He remains in treatment for serious head injuries.

Three Arrested in Connection With Assault

  • An 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were detained the same day on suspicion of affray. Both have since been released on bail pending ongoing investigations.
  • On Tuesday 9 January, 43-year-old William Tollington from Ramsgate was arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife in public.

Mr Tollington appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court and was released on bail. He is due back at Canterbury Crown Court on 12 February 2024.
