Man Caught in Woman’s Bedroom in Dead of Night
At around 2.15am on Saturday 20 March 2021, a woman woke to a terrifying sight – a stranger standing in her bedroom.
Relative Detains Intruder Until Police Arrive
The victim immediately raised the alarm. One of her relatives swooped in and detained the man. Police soon arrived, arrested the suspect, and took him into custody.
71-Year-Old Charged with Sexual Offences
David Tyler, 71, from Wyles Road, Chatham, was charged later that day with trespassing intending to commit a sexual offence and sexually touching the woman without her consent.
Tyler appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday 22 March and was remanded ahead of a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 19 April.
