Rogue Roofers Ripped Off Kent Residents with Dodgy Repairs

Kent Police are cracking down on a gang of cold callers duping locals across Sittingbourne, Faversham, New Romney, Gravesend, and Chatham. Victims were pressured into urgent roof and chimney repairs – only to be charged sky-high prices for shoddy work.

Victims Overcharged and Ripped Off

The conmen targeted households between February and April 2021. Many who paid up got poor-quality repairs that hardly justified the inflated costs.

Suspect Arrested and Charged

On 8 April, Tony Saunders, 22, from Spade Lane, Hartlip, Sittingbourne, was arrested as part of the investigation. He was detained again on 3 June and charged with six counts of fraud by false representation.

Saunders was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 4 June.

Kent Police urge anyone with information or victims of similar scams to come forward and help bring these rogue workers to justice.
