Two Men Arrested After Clapham Stabbing and String of Attacks

Police have arrested two men in connection with a violent spree in Clapham, including an Uber driver being stabbed in the chest. One man in his 30s is now in custody facing multiple burglary charges, while another, in his 20s, has been bailed as investigations continue.

Suspect Linked to Knife Attacks on Women and Uber Driver

  • On 17 November, a woman was followed by a knife-wielding man on Sisters Avenue, SW11. She shouted and he fled.
  • Two days later, on Sumburgh Road, SW12, a man grabbed a woman but she escaped unharmed.
  • On 23 November, an Uber driver was stabbed twice in the chest on Nightingale Lane, Clapham. Thankfully, his injuries are not life-threatening, and he was released from hospital.

Police linked these attacks to the same suspect based on descriptions. Officers spotted the suspect twice near Clapham Common late on 23 November but he fled both times, once on foot and once riding a red bicycle.

Following a public appeal and release of images, a man in his 20s was arrested on 24 November at a Brixton address on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, possessing an offensive weapon, and public order offences.

At the same address, another man in his 30s was arrested on separate burglary charges. He remains in custody. Both other men connected to the series of attacks have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Detective Superintendent Dan O’Sullivan said: “We understand these incidents have caused real worry in the community. These are serious offences that deeply affect victims. Tackling violence against women and girls remains a top priority.
