Police Recover 1,000 Phones, 100 Laptops and a Sword in Wanted Man Arrest
Police have seized a massive haul of stolen goods, including around 1,000 mobile phones, 100 laptops, and even a sword after nabbing a wanted man in his 30s.
Wanted Man Caught for 17 Offences
On Wednesday, 29 April, the Met’s Operation Venice Team arrested a suspect wanted for 17 crimes dating back to 2018. Charges include burglary, thefts of handbags and phones from cafes, and court offences.
Stolen Loot Found in Linked Addresses
Police executed multiple search warrants at several connected properties, uncovering the huge stash of suspected stolen items. Alongside the phones and laptops, a large sum of cash and a sword were also recovered.
Organised Crime at Play, Warns Detective
“Based on the way the goods were packaged, and from documentation retrieved, it would appear this suspect was operating within an organised criminal gang involved in thefts destined to be shipped overseas,” said Acting Detective Inspector Gavin Collins.
“We’ve been after this man for some time. With fewer people out due to government restrictions, still keep your valuables hidden to avoid tempting thieves.”
The suspect is currently held at a central police station as investigations continue.
