Police Release 12 New Images as London Protest Violence Probe Heats Up

Detectives hunting those behind violent clashes at recent London protests have unveiled 12 new images of suspects they want to track down. The new batch includes individuals suspected of racial abuse and serious assaults on both public members and police officers during the disorder.

‘Small Minority’ Fuelled Chaos

Commander Alex Murray said the investigation continues to target a “small minority” responsible for violence and racial abuse amid largely peaceful demonstrations. He revealed that these 12 images add to 48 already released in recent days as police ramp up efforts to identify offenders.

“While most protesters made their voices heard and left peacefully, a minority came prepared to attack, abuse or violently confront others, spoiling the cause,” Murray said. “We’ve seen appalling verbal and racial abuse aimed at officers who only come to keep Londoners safe.”

Your Tips Could Nail the Troublemakers

Police urge anyone recognising suspects in the released images to come forward. Contact the investigation team on 020 8246 9386 or tweet @MetCC quoting the image number. Anonymous tips can go to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

More Images Likely as Probe Deepens

The investigation is ongoing, and more images may be released in the coming days. Commander Murray thanked the public for their “positive response” so far and called on everyone to continue reporting suspects to bring violent offenders to justice.

“Those intent on peaceful protest shouldn’t be met with violence or abuse from others,” he added. “We appreciate those who challenged violent behaviour during protests and encourage the public not to tolerate such actions.”
