Obsession Turns Violent: Luke Hancock Attacks Woman Days After Meeting

Luke Hancock, 33, launched a terrifying attack on a woman on 3 December 2022—just days after they met. The violence didn’t stop there.

Threats and Damage Escalate

Between 3 and 31 December, Hancock bombarded the woman with threatening messages, ignoring her clear wish to end the relationship. His threats included harm to her and her children. That same day, he smashed her car windscreen before sending more chilling messages.

Baseball Bat Brawl on New Year’s Eve

Police were called to a fight in Nottingham’s Mapperley Park on New Year’s Eve. Hancock punched a man and then attacked him with a baseball bat, striking his head, body, and legs—causing pain and bruising.

The weapon was handed to Hancock by 35-year-old Ricky Wilding. Both men were arrested and charged.

Sentenced for Violence and Threats

  • Hancock, from Waldrom Road, Gedling, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon, assault by beating, malicious communications, and criminal damage. He was jailed for two years and slapped with a five-year restraining order.
  • Wilding, of Wigman Road, Bilborough, received an eight-month suspended sentence plus 120 hours of unpaid work and 20 days of rehabilitation.

Detective Praises Victims’ Courage as Hancock Locked Up

“These were nasty and serious offences which must have been extremely frightening ordeals for the victims,” said Detective Constable Jodie Turton.

“Hancock became obsessed with the woman, making her fearful for herself and her children. His brutal assault with a baseball bat on another man could have caused much worse injuries. I’m pleased this dangerous man is off the streets and hope the sentence brings comfort to his victims.”
