Southampton Man Jailed for Vicious Assault on Ex-Partner

Geoffrey Beadle, 41, of Denmead Road, Southampton, has been locked up for 18 months after a brutal domestic attack last September. He also faces a five-year restraining order, handed down at Southampton Crown Court on 22 December.

Brutal Attack in Domestic Dispute

The horrifying assault happened around 7.30pm on 24 September last year. Beadle, then in a relationship with the victim, launched into a violent rage. He hurled metal poles at her, ripped out a chunk of her hair, choked, kicked, and stamped on her. In a terrifying move, he even stuck his fingers into her eyes, smashing her glasses.

The victim suffered a cut nose, bloodshot eye, bruises, and neck injuries.

Victim Speaks Out on Lasting Trauma

“I regularly have nightmares about the incident and even about still being with Beadle,” the victim said in a prepared statement. “It has had a severe and ongoing impact on me. Loud music or small triggers can cause panic attacks. I feel isolated, mistrust people, and even doubt my own memory because it was questioned so much. I’m trying to rebuild my life, but it’s hard.”

Since Beadle’s sentencing, she added: “I’m relieved he’s behind bars. Now I can visit friends and live without fear of him hurting me again.”

Police Praise Her Courage, Urge Others to Speak Up

Police Staff Investigator Rebecca Stevens led the investigation. She said: “I commend this woman’s bravery in sharing the lasting impact of Beadle’s vicious actions. He showed zero remorse, but the jury took just 26 minutes to convict him.

“This sentence is not just punishment — it’s her chance to move on from his shadow.”

Stevens urged anyone in similar situations: “It’s never too late to get help. You will be believed and supported from the moment you reach out.”
