Teen Arrested in Connection with Croydon Stabbing Tragedy

A 19-year-old woman was arrested last Thursday, 5 August, on suspicion of assisting an offender linked to a fatal stabbing in Croydon. She has since been released on bail and is due to return to police in early September.

17-Year-Old Denardo Fatally Stabbed in Broad Daylight

Tragedy struck Prentis Road, SW16, on Thursday, 10 June. Police were called at around 4:15pm following reports of a stabbing. Officers and paramedics found 17-year-old Denardo with a critical stab wound. Despite rushed hospital treatment, he was pronounced dead at 4:51pm the same day.

His family have been informed and are receiving specialist support.

Five Charged Over Deadly Stabbing

A post-mortem at Greenwich Mortuary confirmed Denardo died from a stab wound.

Five suspects have now been charged:

  • A 17-year-old male from Croydon – charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon
  • Umar Salami, 18, of Addiscombe Grove, Croydon – charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon
  • Denzel Kwateng, 19, of Parkway, New Addington – charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon
  • Andre Headley, 18, of Prentis Road, SW16 – charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon
  • A 17-year-old male – charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon; remanded in custody

All five are set to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 31 August.

Other Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

  • Two 16-year-old females arrested have been bailed to return in early September
  • Four others – a 15-year-old boy, a 16-year-old male, a 17-year-old female, and an 18-year-old man – released without further action
