Woman Jailed for Spitting at Cop and Hurling Racist Abuse

Megan Hill sparked chaos on Forest Road East, Radford, when she turned violent and spat at a police officer after emergency services arrived to deal with a disturbance.

From Aggression to Arrest

The 26-year-old, who lives on Hamilton Road, Carrington, became aggressive as officers tried to calm her. Hill then spat directly in an officer’s face, forcing police to restrain and arrest her around 9pm on Tuesday, 21 February.

Racial Abuse Adds Heat to Charges

Not content with the assault, Hill proceeded to unleash a stream of racial abuse at another officer while in custody. She was charged with assaulting an emergency worker and a racially aggravated public order offence.

Justice Served in Nottingham

Hill pleaded guilty to both charges and faced Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 23 February. She was sentenced to nine months behind bars and ordered to pay £100 compensation.

PC Chris Wilson said: “Our officers dedicate their lives to helping people and simply don’t deserve to be abused in this abhorrent manner. No police officer, or indeed any emergency service worker, should have to deal with this – it should never simply be considered as just a part of the job.”

“Nottinghamshire Police has zero tolerance for hate crime and will take robust action against anyone behaving like this. Hill crossed a line, and I hope she reflects on her actions during her time in prison.”
