Knife-wielding attacker jailed for six years after targeting 87-year-old neighbour
Laura Parry’s chilling assault in Knutsford
Laura Parry, 58, of Ella Grove, Knutsford, was locked up for six years at Chester Crown Court on Thursday 20 April. She had already pleaded guilty to a section 18 assault and possession of a knife.
The terrifying attack began on the morning of 6 December 2022 around 9am when Parry bombarded her 87-year-old victim with abusive and threatening phone calls. She warned she would turn up at the woman’s home armed.
Violent attack unfolds after threats
True to her threat, Parry arrived just over an hour later, drunk and wielding a large silver knife. She barged into the elderly woman’s house and struck her in the back. The victim fell to the floor, initially thinking she had been punched.
Quick-thinking saw the victim wrestle the knife from Parry and throw it outside. A neighbour, alerted by the noise, called the police immediately.
Swift police response and victim’s ongoing recovery
Officers arrived fast and arrested Parry at the scene. The victim was treated by paramedics and hospitalised for her injuries.
Detective Constable Jamie Roberts, who led the case, said: “The victim is a vulnerable elderly woman who tried to support Parry. Despite this, Parry showed no care and came to harm her.”
“By pure luck, the injuries were not life-threatening. She continues to recover but will never forget that day. Hopefully, today’s sentence gives her some closure.”
