Reckless Driver Jailed After 100mph Crash Leaves Passenger with Life-Changing Injuries
A dangerous driver who hit speeds of 100mph before causing a serious smash near Hassocks has been locked up.
Speed Demon Brandon Lee Crashes Near Hassocks
Brandon Lee, 28, from Forest Close, Horsham, was sentenced to two years in prison after a high-speed crash on 8 December 2023 left his female passenger seriously injured.
Fleeing Police and Dangerous Driving
Lee sped along the A23 near Pyecombe, ignoring police signals to stop. He then drove recklessly on the wrong side of Clayton Hill on the A273 before losing control and smashing into a phone box.
Emergency services found the Ford Fiesta wrecked and the passenger suffering life-changing injuries.
Jail and Driving Ban
At Lewes Crown Court on 25 April, Lee pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Besides his two-year prison term, he was banned from driving for two years and eight months.
Police Warn of Dangers of Speeding
Sergeant Joe McGregor of the Surrey and Sussex Roads Policing Unit said: “Lee’s driving was reckless and dangerous. He is incredibly lucky not to have caused a fatality. This collision has had a lasting impact on the victim, and this case serves as a stark reminder that speeding is one of the biggest causes of death and serious injury on our roads.”
