Monster Attacked in Prison After Cell Door Left Open

James Campbell, the twisted 20-year-old convicted of raping and murdering six-year-old Alesha MacPhail, was viciously attacked in his Polmont Young Offenders cell on Wednesday. The nightmare happened when his cell door was briefly left open during mealtime, giving an inmate the chance to strike.

Brutal Assault Leaves Campbell with Front Tooth Through Lip

Campbell was caught off guard, pushed onto his bed, and repeatedly punched. A prison insider revealed, “His door was open, and someone saw the opportunity and took it.” The assailant had to be dragged off after leaving Campbell with his front tooth stuck through his lip.

“Everyone in here is happy. Staff have been making sly comments that he deserved it,” said a source within the prison. “He usually keeps to himself because everyone wants to hang him. They’d kill him if they could because of what he did to that little girl.”

Despite possible serious charges for the attack, Campbell remains unbothered, reportedly believing the beating was “worth it.”

Campbell’s Horrific Crime Against Little Alesha

In July 2018, Campbell broke into the home of six-year-old Alesha MacPhail on the Isle of Bute during her summer holiday. He kidnapped her from her grandparents’ house and left her body in nearby woods a day later, where she was discovered with 117 injuries.

The brutal autopsy revealed chilling details: Alesha had been gripped tightly around the neck and face, smothered, and suffered catastrophic genital injuries – many inflicted while she was still alive.

DNA evidence was damning. A forensic scientist testified that Campbell’s DNA was found on Alesha’s body and clothes, with a one-in-a-billion chance it was someone else. Disturbingly, police found Campbell had googled “how do police find DNA” days after the murder.

Sentence Reduced Despite Heinous Crime

Originally handed a 27-year sentence, Campbell’s punishment was cut to 24 years on appeal. Judges considered his youth and similar violent cases, concluding “a punishment part of more than 20 years was clearly merited.” Yet the reduction sparked outrage among the public and prison staff alike.
