Police Urge Locals to Beef Up Home Security
With summer here and many homes left empty for longer periods, officers warn residents to stay vigilant. Simple steps could keep thieves out:
- Always lock windows and doors – don’t just lift handles on UPVC doors without locking properly
- Install a burglar alarm
- Use timer switches on lights and radios to make your home look lived-in
- Remove keys, cash, and valuables from sight
- Lock away tools and garden gear that could be stolen or used in break-ins
- Security mark bikes, cellphones, and laptops
- Keep receipts and serial numbers for expensive items
Remember: a secure home is a burglar’s nightmare. Stay safe this summer!
