Quick Police Action Snaps Up Two Suspects Near A2

Police were called to the scene and spotted the perpetrators driving a Smart Car just over an hour later near Bean on the A2. Ahmad, the driver, and passenger Maow were arrested immediately.

A search found the victim’s bank cards and cannabis hidden under the seats.

All Four Guilty and Sentenced to Years Behind Bars

Further investigation by the Chief Constable’s Crime Squad tracked down Ngqobongwana and Akande in Gillingham days later. All four were charged with robbery. Ahmad also faced charges for drug possession, driving without a licence, and driving without insurance.

  • Ngqobongwana got seven years on 29 April 2022.
  • Ahmad, 30, received seven years and three months and lost his licence with eight points on 5 May 2022.
  • Akande, 34, was sentenced to six years and ten months on 16 January 2023.
  • Maow’s sentencing is still pending.

“While investigators were never able to confirm their actual roles in the robbery, we proved all four played a significant part in a crime that terrorised the occupants,” said Detective Constable Dan Bister.

“Thanks to quick police work and brave witnesses, these men are off the streets and no longer a threat.”
