Huge Heroin Haul Seized in Ceredigion Drug Bust
Dyfed-Powys Police have made one of their biggest heroin seizures ever in Ceredigion. Over 400 grams of the deadly Class A drug was found at the home of Susan Marie Proffitt during a police raid. The crackdown has dealt a major blow to a local organised crime gang supplying heroin in the area.
Drugs Stashed in Staircase Vent and Shower
Officers executing a warrant on August 30, 2020, at Proffitt’s South Road home uncovered a box with 408 grams of heroin hidden in a vent beneath the staircase. Two more wraps were concealed inside a shower head bracket. Proffitt’s fingerprints were found on the drugs. Four mobile phones were also seized, suggesting a well-coordinated operation.
Police Praise Teamwork and Disruption of Drug Network
“This swift and thorough investigation involved officers and staff from departments across the division, who worked together to secure this result,” said Sergeant Steven Jones.
“There is no doubt that in taking Proffitt out of the supply chain we have disrupted an organised crime gang which she was a trusted part of in supplying heroin into the division.”
Proffitt Jailed for Nearly Five Years
Sgt Jones added the amount of heroin found was far too large for personal use. The defendant’s financial situation also indicated she couldn’t have bought such a stash without dealing it on.
Proffitt pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply and was sentenced to 57 months behind bars at Swansea Crown Court. This case sends a strong message to drug dealers operating in the region: police are watching and ready to strike.
