Burglar Busted in Chatham: Man Nabbed After Home Invasion
Early Morning Arrest
Harry Garretty, 34, from Shepperton Close, Chatham, was arrested in a dawn raid on Tuesday, 27 July 2021. Police swooped on his address following reports of a violent burglary in Carlton Crescent.
Victim Threatened at Home
The drama unfolded around 6pm on Saturday, 24 July. The victim returned to her home to find a man inside. He allegedly threatened her with a weapon, then made off with her handbag and car.
Facing Serious Charges
Garretty now faces charges of robbery, theft from the person, and stealing a motor vehicle. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 29 July, where he was remanded in custody. His next hearing is at Maidstone Crown Court on 25 August.
