Drug Kingpin Khan Caught in Global Smuggling Sting

Detectives cracked the case on Khan, who used the encrypted Encrochat network to plot world-wide drug runs. He discussed moving huge drug shipments through Colombian ports straight into Europe.

Bust at Home Leads to Shocking Discoveries

In June 2020, Bedfordshire Police swooped on Khan’s Russell Street, Luton pad. They found piles of cash and an Apple iPhone stashed in a bedroom wardrobe during the raid.

Khan faced bail between June and October as investigations deepened. But new evidence revealed his dark link to an organised crime group (OCG) running the Encrochat operation.

Codename ‘Uncle’ and ‘Wizewords’ – Khan’s Underworld Aliases

Known as ‘Uncle’ and communicating under the handle ‘Wizewords’, Khan was re-arrested for conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. Officers uncovered photos sent from his locations, confirming his key role in the network.

Data from Encrochat servers linked Khan and co-conspirators to an OCG now serving a total of 65 years behind bars.

Thirteen Years Behind Bars for Luton’s Drug Dealer

The incriminating iPhone sealed Khan’s fate, showing he brokered drug deals for the OCG. On 21 June, Luton Crown Court handed him a hefty 13 years and three months sentence for conspiring to supply Class A drugs.

Khan’s downfall marks a major victory in the battle against global drug trafficking.
