PC Claudia Pastina Slammed for Beating Suspect in Stockwell Incident

Misconduct Panel Finds PC Pastina Guilty

PC Claudia Pastina, from the Central South Basic Command Unit, faced a misconduct hearing on Monday, 20 November. The panel ruled she breached professional standards on several fronts: ‘Use of Force’, ‘Authority, Respect and Courtesy’, and ‘Discreditable Conduct’.

Convicted for Assault – Suspended Sentence and Fine

Pastina was previously found guilty of assault by beating on 12 December 2022. She received a 16-week suspended sentence for two years plus a £748 fine.

Shocking Incident in Stockwell

Back in February 2022, PC Pastina and a colleague responded to reports of a suspicious man on Stockwell Park Road, SW9. They asked the man to leave, but he refused. When he resisted arrest, officers handcuffed him. During the scuffle, he bit PC Pastina and scratched another officer with keys.

However, after charging him with assaulting an emergency worker, Pastina struck the man several times in the face—actions that sparked the misconduct case.

Senior Officer Condemns Pastina’s Actions

Detective Chief Superintendent Seb Adjei-Addoh of Central South Basic Command Unit said: “The public trusts us to use our powers fairly and professionally, maintaining the highest standards at all times. In this case, those standards were not met. PC Pastina’s behaviour was completely unacceptable.”

“We will always investigate wrongdoing and take appropriate action.”

Following the hearing, PC Pastina has been added to the Barred List held by the College of Policing. This means she is banned from working in police forces, local policing bodies, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, or His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.
