Man Hospitalised After Brutal Machete Attack in Accrington – Police Seek Pick-Up Truck Witnesses
Serious Assault Rocks Manchester Road
Police are hunting for witnesses following a vicious machete attack on Manchester Road, near Grants Bar, Accrington. Officers rushed to the scene at 6.20am on Saturday, December 4, to find a man in his 30s suffering life-changing injuries.
The victim remains in hospital in a critical condition.
Suspect Charged Amid Ongoing Investigation
On Monday, December 6, Martin Gilheaney, 21, from Duncan Square, Accrington, was charged with section 18 assault, possession of a firearm, and possession of ammunition. He appeared at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court that day.
Police Appeal: Where Was This Pick-Up Truck?
Detectives are now desperately trying to trace the movements of a pick-up truck linked to the case. They want to know where the vehicle was Friday night and early Saturday morning — especially between 4am and 7am on December 4.
Leading the probe, DS Peter Davies of Hyndburn Police said:
“A man has been charged but our investigation is very much ongoing. We need the public’s help piecing together where this van was before and after the attack. Perhaps you saw it or caught it on dashcam early Saturday morning.”
