Dylan Makepeace, 24, from Mile End Road, E1, was caught red-handed after being chased down by passersby following one of his brutal attacks. Detective Sergeant Michael Dixon from the Met’s Central East Safeguarding team branded Makepeace a serious danger, especially to lone women. Guilty Plea Leads to 5 Years Jail – And Longer Licence
Makepeace admitted to multiple offences at Snaresbrook Crown Court, including assault by beating, sexual assault, intentional strangulation, and grievous bodily harm. On November 30, 2023, he was sentenced to five years in prison, plus three years on licence. He also faces lifetime registration on the Sex Offenders Register and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
30-Minute Attack Spree in Mile End – Heroic Victims Fight Back
- The nightmare began just after 5:30pm on November 27, 2022, when two women spotted Makepeace acting suspiciously near their home on Cleveland Way, E1.
- Despite trying to avoid him, Makepeace followed them into their block. One woman filmed him briefly before he suddenly attacked, pinning them down and leaving cuts and scratches.
- The pair fought back fiercely, with one landing a blow from her mobile phone, forcing him to flee.
- Just 30 minutes later, around 6pm, Makepeace targeted a third victim returning from the gym on Cambridge Heath Road.
- He grabbed her, silencing her with a hand over her mouth and struck her head on the floor while trying to sexually assault her over her clothes.
- The brave woman fought back, hitting him with her house keys, and Makepeace fled when alerted by nearby boys on bikes.
A nearby resident heard her cries for help, took her in, and called the police. The public’s swift intervention led to Makepeace’s arrest at the scene. He was later identified through an ID parade as the attacker from the earlier incident.
