Five Men Convicted After £250k Solihull Armed Robbery

Five crooks have been nailed for a brazen armed robbery in Solihull that saw £150,000 to £250,000 worth of IT kit stolen. The terrifying raid, which happened in March, involved thieves threatening staff at knifepoint before making off with laptops, TVs, and more.

Masked Gang Ties Up Staff in Bold Daylight Heist

Jermaine Williams, Benjamin Need, Mark Earl, Gary Newman, and Patrick Cooke will face sentencing this December at Birmingham Crown Court for their parts in the heist. Four of the gang wore masks and wielded knives during the raid. They tied up a staff member and loaded a company van with expensive IT gear.

Police Crackdown: Rapid Arrests and Stolen Goods Recovered

Thanks to lightning-fast police action, Williams was arrested just 10 minutes after the heist was reported. Heavy CCTV work led to the capture of Need, Earl, and Newman three days later. Police recovered most of the stolen kit.

While Williams and Need admitted guilt early, Newman, Earl, and Cooke were found guilty at trial. Cooke was convicted for handling stolen goods rather than direct involvement in the robbery.

Police Praise Investigation After Shocking Crime

Detective Inspector Mark Heard said, “This was a major investigation following on from what must have been a terrifying ordeal for the staff member who was present. Hopefully news of their conviction and later sentencing will give everyone involved some comfort and reassurance that we will continue to take the strongest possible action against those responsible.”
