Portsmouth’s Most Feared Thug Jailed Again for ASBO Breach!
Gary Saunders, 57, the notorious Portsmouth troublemaker, is behind bars once more. The ex-Portland Street resident, now homeless, has been slapped with another eight-week jail term after defying yet another Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO).
Repeat Offender Lands Back in Custody
Saunders was first locked up in August for eight weeks for flouting an ASBO, alongside charges including shoplifting, bike theft, driving without a licence or insurance, and dodging court custody. Magistrates had spared him jail last May despite multiple ASBO breaches – but this time, they weren’t lenient.
Nearly 300 Offences and Counting
The Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court sentenced Saunders to eight weeks for causing harassment, alarm, and distress. His crime sheet is monstrous, boasting close to 300 convictions. Saunders has terrorised Portsmouth residents for years, bullying and threatening passersby to hand over cash or goods.
Linked to Suspicious Death
Last October, Portsmouth Coroner’s Court connected Saunders to the suspicious death of Christina Jewell at Handsworth House, Somerstown – adding a dark twist to his criminal past.
Despite his lengthy rap sheet, Saunders will be released mid-November, just in time to spoil Christmas for locals once again.
