London endured a brutal bank holiday weekend as ten people were stabbed in violent incidents across Notting Hill, Hackney, and Tottenham from August 23 to 26. The Metropolitan Police disclosed details of this disturbing wave of attacks, leaving communities reeling in shock and grief.
Notting Hill Carnival Chaos: Three Fighting for Lives After Stabbings
The vibrant Notting Hill Carnival turned nightmarish when three victims were left critically injured during stabbing incidents over the festival’s two days. On August 25, a 32-year-old mother attending the carnival with her child was stabbed on Golborne Road near Westbourne Park. Police and medics rushed to her aid before paramedics arrived. She remains in critical condition in hospital.
Early probes suggest she was caught amid a clash between two groups of men, though her direct involvement is unclear.
Shakiel Thibou, 20, was arrested at a Hammersmith and Fulham address on August 27. He faces charges including attempted murder, violent disorder, and possession of an offensive weapon. His brothers, Sheldon, 24, and Shaeim, 22, have also been charged with violent disorder and assaulting an emergency worker. All three appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 28.
Two other men were hurt at the carnival: a 29-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while a 24-year-old’s condition remains unconfirmed.
The carnage escalated on August 26 with five additional stabbings. Two victims were left in life-threatening condition. The attacks included slash wounds and an assault involving a corrosive substance. Police made 49 arrests for offensive weapons and one for firearm possession. They also reported 35 officers injured and a staggering 230 arrests over the day.
Hackney Horror: Man in 40s Stabbed in City Road Attack
In Hackney, a man in his 40s was stabbed in the early hours of August 26 on City Road. Emergency services arrived at around 2 AM and found him injured. His injuries are non-life-threatening. A man in his 20s was arrested and taken into custody, with a firearm recovered at the scene.
Tottenham Trouble: Young Man Stabbed on St Ann’s Road
On August 23, a stabbing victim in his 20s was discovered on St Ann’s Road in Tottenham around 5 AM. Police responded quickly and the victim was hospitalised with injuries deemed non-life-threatening. A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm but has since been released without further action.
