Teen Stabbed to Death in Romford Park – Police Hunt Cold-Blooded Killer
Detectives are on the hunt after 17-year-old Jodie Chesney was fatally stabbed in a park near St Neot’s Road, Harold Hill. The shocking attack unfolded on Friday, 1 March, at around 9.25pm when emergency services were called to the scene.
Brutal Attack Caught Locals Off Guard
Police arrived to find Jodie suffering from a single stab wound to her back. Despite frantic efforts, she was pronounced dead just over an hour later at 10.26pm. A post-mortem confirmed she died from trauma and haemorrhage.
Jodie had been hanging out with five friends, playing music and socialising in the park. They spotted two men earlier that evening who left without incident. But half an hour later, the pair returned, and one struck without warning before fleeing towards Retford Road.
Suspect Description Narrow but Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up
- The attacker is described as a Black male, late teens.
- No other details are currently available about either suspect.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams urged the public: “We’ve had great support from the community, but we need more people to come forward. If you saw these men hanging around or fleeing the scene, contact us immediately.”
Community and Police Step Up to Fight Knife Crime
Acting Detective Chief Superintendent John Ross, speaking in Havering, expressed deep sympathy for Jodie’s family. He promised full commitment to catching those responsible and highlighted the ongoing battle against knife crime.
“We must continue to work tirelessly with our partners and the public. Your information could take a knife off our streets or save a life.”
Extra police patrols will be deployed in Harold Hill as inquiries continue. No arrests have been made so far.
