Bounds Green Rapist Nathaniel Mundle Jailed for 17 Years
Nathaniel Mundle, 23, from Bounds Green, Haringey, was locked up for 17 years at Wood Green Crown Court on Tuesday, 7 April 2020.
Brutal Attack Caught in Court
Mundle pleaded guilty last October to kidnap, rape, and false imprisonment. He was slapped with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order too.
The chilling attack happened on 25 September 2019. A woman in her 40s was walking past Mundle’s place when he ambushed her from behind. He beat and strangled her until she lost consciousness, then dragged her into his home.
Horrifying Ordeal Inside Mundle’s Home
While the woman was unconscious, Mundle raped her and held her captive for over an hour. When she came to, she managed to get help from a neighbour. Emergency services were called straight away, and the victim had to be hospitalised due to the savage assault.
The police arrived just after midnight, but Mundle had fled. He was arrested when he returned home around 00:50 on 26 September 2019 and charged the same day.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery
Detective Constable Lydia Polydorou-Evangelou, from the North Area Command Unit’s Safeguarding Team, said: “This was a shocking, premeditated assault where a woman was violently attacked.
“I want to thank the victim for her incredible bravery in escaping and contacting us. She helped our team ensure this dangerous offender was taken off the streets and can no longer harm anyone else.
“I’m very satisfied with the sentence. I hope this case sends a strong message about how seriously we take crimes like this.”
