Milkman Stabbed After Refusing Teenagers’ Ride Request in Cheshire
In the early hours of the morning, loyal milkman Rob from Briscoes Dairy faced a brutal attack. At around 4.45am on Eaton Lane, Tarporley, Cheshire, two teenage boys asked him for a lift. When he refused, one of the youths stabbed Rob in the stomach and fled on foot.
Attack on Local Delivery Man
The boys, believed to be locals since they asked for a lift to nearby Tiverton, also tried to steal goods from the back of Rob’s milk float. Owner Edward Briscoe, 37, described the shocking incident:
“Two youths, about 15 or 16, asked him for a lift down a country lane and he said he couldn’t. It’s an electric float; it doesn’t have any passenger seats. One of them tried to get a crate off the back and as Rob went round the back, one of the lads stabbed him.”
Mr Briscoe added: “It’s horrible to think there was intent to really hurt someone. I dread to think what would have happened if he didn’t have the thick coat on but I’m just so thankful he’s not badly hurt.”
Milkmen’s Resilience Shines Through
Despite the nasty wound, paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service treated Rob at the scene, and remarkably, he wanted to finish his milk round after being checked over. The stabbing could have been worse, as Rob’s thick coat helped shield him from more serious injury.
Police Hunt Teen Attackers
Cheshire Police have launched an urgent appeal to catch the attackers. “This is someone’s son, a brother, and someone will know who did this,” said Mr Briscoe. “They need to be caught and punished. No one should ever face what Rob went through.”
