Travellers Set Up Camp Opposite Hilsea Splash Pool

Travellers have pitched up on the field opposite Hilsea Splash Pool, causing a stir in the local community. The Hilsea running group, who usually jog the area on Sunday mornings, found their usual route disrupted.

Portsmouth Council Takes Legal Action

Portsmouth City Council has launched a court bid to evict the group, believed to have travelled from Spain. The travellers, numbering around six caravans, were spotted on the land from Saturday, though their arrival date remains unclear.

Residents Feel Intimidated

Ward councillor Scott Harris, representing Hilsea, commented on the situation:

“They’ve left three bags of rubbish here. At least they bagged it up in one spot instead of scattering it everywhere.”

“I spoke to people who saw them leave quietly. Still, many Splash Pool users said they felt intimidated.”

The community awaits further updates as the council pushes to clear the site.
