Brighton Man Pleads Guilty to Shocking Hove Kidnap After Asking for Directions
Woman Snatched in Broad Daylight
A 21-year-old Brighton man, Cameron Boxall, has admitted to kidnapping a woman in Hove after a disturbing encounter. The victim, a 20-year-old local woman, was walking home from work in the early hours when she was approached by a black Mini at the corner of Church Road and Palmeira Avenue.
Boxall stopped her, asking for directions. Suddenly, he dragged her into his car. The woman fought back fiercely, trapping her legs outside to stop him closing the door. After a short drive, Boxall dumped her on the street and sped off.
Crime Spree Includes Vehicle Theft and Cannabis Possession
Boxall’s troubles don’t end with the kidnap. He also pleaded guilty to multiple charges including:
- Theft of a vehicle
- Theft from a vehicle
- Driving without a licence or insurance
- Making off without payment
- Possession of cannabis
Swift Police Work Leads to Arrest
Police quickly linked the stolen black Mini used in the kidnapping to Boxall. It was also involved in a petrol theft in Woodingdean the same day and was recovered later on 5 August. Using CCTV footage, mobile phone data, and witness descriptions, officers identified Boxall as the suspect.
He was arrested and appeared at Hove Crown Court on 31 January, where he pleaded guilty to all charges.
Sentencing Set for March
Boxall is currently remanded in custody. He is due to be sentenced at Hove Crown Court on 3 March.
