Burglar Who Hit Same Margate Home Twice Jailed for Three Years

A brazen burglar struck the same Margate house twice in just months – and has now landed behind bars for three years.

DNA Slip-Up and CCTV Snare the Crook

Andrew Manderson broke into a property on Ethelbert Terrace on 16 August 2019. He made off with mobile phones, computers, and cash but carelessly left a glove behind. kent-police/" title="Kent Police" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Kent Police swiftly matched Manderson’s DNA to the evidence.

The victim, determined to catch the culprit, installed CCTV. While on holiday on 8 October 2019, they received a chilling alert from the camera showing a man stealing a mixing desk.

Quick Police Action Leads to Arrest

Officers identified 48-year-old Manderson as the thief caught on camera. A search of his home uncovered the stolen mixing desk and other items. Manderson admitted to both burglaries at Canterbury Crown Court on 20 January 2020.

Detective Constable Allison Bridges said: “To target the same property twice shows a complete lack of consideration for the victim and the upset that would have been caused. Fortunately the victim’s decision to install CCTV paid off and Andrew Manderson is now off the streets and unable to steal anymore.”
