Chatham Drug Dealer Jailed After Heroin and Cocaine Bust
A Chatham drug dealer has been locked up after police caught him red-handed with heroin and cocaine during a dramatic raid.
Undercover Officers Spot Dealer in Alleyway
On 12 December 2019, plainclothes officers on patrol noticed a gang of known drug users loitering in an alley between Afghan Road and Fort Pitt Street. Suspecting a dealer was about to show, they staked out nearby flats on Fort Pitt Street.
Soon, 24-year-old Roger Okello emerged from the building. When officers identified themselves, he dropped a mobile phone, denying ownership. He was quickly arrested.
Drugs, Cash and Scales Found in Flat
A search of Okello’s flat uncovered 80 wraps of heroin, electronic scales, and over £840 in cash—all with a street value of around £1,000. At the police station, officers found another wrap of cocaine tucked inside his trainer.
Sentenced to Over Two Years
Okello, of Fort Pitt Street, later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin and cocaine, plus possession of criminal property. On 23 January 2020, Maidstone Crown Court sentenced him to two years and seven months behind bars.
“These drug dealers prey on the most vulnerable and cause misery to families and the wider community,” said District Commander Chief Inspector Ian Dyball. “My officers will continue to target them and bring them to justice.”
“It is right this individual is now serving a jail sentence.”
