Paedophile Alan Norman Jailed for Six Years After Abusing Young Boy in St Osyth
A 78-year-old man has been locked up for six years after sexually abusing a boy he had befriended in St Osyth. Alan Norman, from Portreath Place, Chelmsford, carried out repeated assaults over a three-year period from 2002 to 2004.
Victim’s Brave Confession Brings Justice
The horrific abuse only came to light when the victim finally spoke out in January 2016. Norman was arrested a few months later on April 10, 2016. By October 6, he was officially charged with four counts of indecent assault against a boy under 14.
Judge Sends Norman Down at Chelmsford Crown Court
Following his conviction, Norman appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court on July 28 and was sentenced to six years behind bars.
Detective Praises Victim’s Courage
“Alan Norman preyed on a young boy – befriending him, gaining his trust, and then abusing him,” said Detective Sergeant Dan Jeffries. “These were horrible crimes committed by someone who violated the trust that was put in them.”
“I want to praise the courage of the victim in coming forward to report this to us and their bravery throughout the investigation. I hope the fact that Norman is now behind bars will come as some solace.”
