Emotional Tributes on New Year’s Eve
As New Year’s Eve fell silent, loved ones gathered outside Joanna’s home. They laid flowers, lit candles, raised a Polish flag, and held prayers. Emotions ran high, with friends breaking down in sobs on her driveway. A lone police officer stood guard, quietly watching the heartfelt tributes.

Remembering Joanna: A Beloved Friend and Colleague
Joanna was a well-known recruitment agent in Waterlooville, deeply loved by friends, family, and her community.
Viola Signejeva, a close friend, said: “I am lucky to have known Jo, not just as a colleague but a great friend. She was full of positivity and energy. It’s too soon for her to go. Rest in peace Jo. I miss you and send my deepest condolences to your family and friends.”
Aniya Malkosz added: “I can’t believe I’ll never see you again. Nothing will be the same without you here… Goodbye, Sunshine.”

Ongoing Murder Investigation: Suspect in Custody
The police have arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of Joanna’s murder. He was treated for arm injuries before being taken into custody. Detectives have been granted an extra 12 hours to question him and he is set to appear before Magistrates’ Court for a custody extension.
The incident unfolded around 11:30am on December 28 when ambulance and police rushed to the scene. A major crime scene remains in place with forensic officers combing the property for clues.
Two white BMWs found on the driveway have been taken for forensic analysis, including DNA testing, as police hunt for any piece of evidence connected to the killing.
Police Reassure Community Amid Investigation
District Commander Chief Inspector Habib Rahman commented: “This is a worrying incident for locals but we do not believe the public is at risk. Specialist officers remain on scene while we piece together what happened. Our Neighbourhood Policing Team will patrol regularly. Anyone with concerns should speak to our officers.”
