Island Shock: Man Charged Over Sexual Assault and Indecent Exposure on Cowes Cycle Track
24-Year-Old Arrested in Isle of Wight Sex Crimes
Laurence Marsden, 24, from Cowes, has been hit with multiple charges following disturbing incidents on a local cycle track. The Bernard Road resident was arrested on Sunday, July 30, after police launched an investigation into reports of indecent exposure and sexual assault.
Two Separate Incidents Spark Outrage
Marsden faces two counts of indecent exposure and one of sexual assault. The first indecent exposure allegedly happened on July 1 along the cycle track between Cowes and Stag Lane. The second indecent exposure and the sexual assault charges stem from an incident on June 26 at the same spot.
During the June 26 incident, Marsden reportedly exposed himself to two women before making unwanted advances toward one of them.
Legal Action and Community Alert
Marsden is due in Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday as the case progresses.
Local police urge residents and visitors to stay alert and report suspicious behaviour immediately. “These incidents remind us all to be vigilant in public spaces,” police stated, promising strong action to keep the community safe.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the authorities to help safeguard the Isle of Wight’s cycle routes and public areas.
