Croatian Lorry Driver Charged After Fatal M20 Horror Crash

Tragedy on the M20: Beloved Dad Killed

A beloved Ashford dad-of-two was killed in a horrific smash on the M20. Arran McManus, 36, was driving his black Nissan Qashqai when it smashed into two lorries—a white MAN and a white Scania articulated—on the morning of Tuesday, 25 November.

The youth football coach, known as a “pillar of the community,” died instantly. Arran was a devoted father and local hero in Ashford.

Lorry Driver Arrested and Charged

Zvonko Tomisa, 57, from Vidovec, Croatia, the driver of the MAN lorry, was arrested at the scene. Treated for injuries, he has since been released from hospital but was charged with causing death by dangerous driving on Saturday.

Tomisa appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody. He is set to face Maidstone Crown Court on 2 January 2026.

Emotional Tributes Flood In

“I am heartbroken to share that on Tuesday morning, Arran, my partner, my soulmate, and best friend, was sadly taken too soon from us,” said Arran’s partner, Ashleigh Devlin.

“Arran was our whole life and more. He was the most wonderful dad to our two incredible children, and he was so proud of them both and loved them deeply. He will be sorely missed by his entire family circle.”

Arran coached at Kennington Juniors FC, who called him:

“A great coach, leader, and mentor—patient, kind, thoughtful, and inspiring. His enthusiasm was infectious. We’re all left numb and in shock that he won’t get to see where this journey would lead.”

The club has launched a fundraiser to support Arran’s family.
