Massive 100-Strong Party Shut Down by Police in Ongar Road
Police crashed a massive party on Ongar Road late Friday night after reports of a huge gathering at around 10:35pm. When officers arrived, they found roughly 100 revellers packed inside, flagrantly breaching the Government’s Covid-19 rules.
Road Closed as Police Turn Away Partygoers
Officers swiftly shut down the road, denying entry to vehicles packed with hopeful partygoers trying to get in. By the early hours of Saturday, the party was broken up and the crowd dispersed.
Heavy Fines Handed Out to Organisers and Attendees
- 39 guests were slapped with fines for breaking Covid regulations.
- One organiser faced a whopping £10,000 fine for hosting the illegal bash.
Detective Superintendent Jon Burgess said: “This event was a clear and blatant breach of the Government’s Covid-19 regulations so it was absolutely right that we responded to it and shut it down.”
“We know the end of lockdown measures is in sight but while they remain in place, it’s crucial we all do the right thing and follow them.”
