Disturbing Call Leads to Tragedy
On the morning of Sunday, November 6, 2022, at around 9:15am, emergency services were called to a home where a man claimed he had killed his girlfriend. Officers found Alexis Karran, 49, unconscious with severe head injuries. She was rushed to Salford Royal Hospital but sadly died from her wounds.
Mental Health Assessment Sparks Manslaughter Plea
Mitchell was arrested on suspicion of murder and underwent a mental health evaluation. Detained under the Mental Health Act, he was later charged once deemed fit for interview in March 2023. During a court hearing on October 24, 2023, he pleaded guilty to manslaughter due to diminished responsibility.
