Danny Cahalane, 38, dies weeks after savage Plymouth attack

A beloved dad has died in hospital after a brutal assault left him fighting for life on Lipson Road, Plymouth. Nine people have now been charged in connection with the shocking attack.

Tragic Loss of Danny Cahalane

Danny Cahalane was rushed to hospital in critical condition following the violent attack on Friday, 21 February 2025. Despite heroic efforts from medical teams, he passed away on Saturday, 3 May.

His family, devastated by the loss, paid tribute to a “cherished” son and father. In a heartfelt statement, they said:

“As a family, we are struggling to come to terms with Danny’s passing. Danny was an outstanding father and son. Danny and his mum had so much love for each other. He is well loved by his family and friends, and we cherish his love and memories.”

“We ask that our privacy is respected during this difficult time.”

Police Make Nine Arrests

Devon and Cornwall Police launched an immediate investigation after the attack. A spokesperson confirmed that nine people have now been charged. The exact charges are still undisclosed, but the case is being treated as a murder inquiry following Danny’s death.

Detective Superintendent Ben Davies commented:

“Our thoughts are with Danny’s family and friends at this sad and difficult time. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident remains very much ongoing.”
