Teenager Hangs Himself After Years of Gay Bullying
A 16-year-old boy tragically took his own life in woodland after relentless bullying for his sexuality, an inquest has revealed.
Cameron Warwick’s Heartbreaking Story
Cameron Warwick, from Fareham near Portsmouth, struggled with autism and depression and bravely came out as gay at just 12 years old. But his school years became a nightmare. He was tormented by classmates who bullied him “for years,” the hearing heard.
Relentless Abuse and Isolation
Cameron’s mum, Kerry Warwick, spoke out about the torment her son faced. She said: “They would bully him and isolate him. They would throw things like food at him, trip him up in the corridor, and call him horrible names like ‘autistic f***.’ The bullies preyed on the fact he was gay.”
Classmates rejected Cameron, refusing to sit with him and verbally abusing him relentlessly.
Tragic End to a Young Life
The bullying and isolation pushed Cameron to the brink. His death has sparked calls for schools to do more to protect vulnerable children from homophobic and hate-fuelled bullying.
