Just after 6pm on Friday, 21 May, a routine stop turned violent when a silver Vauxhall Corsa sped into a police officer in west London.
Deliberate Hit-and-Run Leaves Officer Seriously Hurt
The officer, who had approached the car to speak with its occupant, was suddenly rammed as the vehicle accelerated away. He suffered a serious leg injury and was rushed to hospital by the London Ambulance Service. His condition is described as potentially life-changing.
Police Launch Full Investigation, Appeal for Witnesses
West Area CID detectives are on the case. Chief Superintendent Peter Gardner slammed the “shocking incident” as a deliberate attempt to dodge police.
“My thoughts are with my injured colleague and his family as we await an update on his condition. Incidents like this are totally unacceptable,” said Gardner. “We are collecting dash cam footage from drivers nearby and urge anyone around Manor Waye at the time to check their dash or doorbell cams. Every piece of evidence counts.”
