Dartford mugger sentenced after threatening man with a knife – but only steals loose change and a roll-up
Knife threat but petty haul
James Harris, 25, from Olive Road, Dartford, walked free with just some coins and a roll-up after threatening a man with a knife. The thug followed the victim from a petrol station before jumping on his back and demanding his wallet at knifepoint. Despite the threat, Harris ended up fleeing with only a handful of loose change and a cigarette.
Quick cop work leads to arrest
Police caught up with Harris the same day after spotting a large cut on his hand, matching the victim’s description. Forensic evidence sealed the case. Harris pleaded guilty at Woolwich Crown Court on 24 July and was hit with a three-year jail term.
Police warn of lasting trauma
“Thankfully, Harris’s victim was not harmed; however, violent crime can have lasting effects on people emotionally,” said Detective Sergeant Mike Champion. “Harris’s willingness to threaten an innocent member of the public clearly demonstrates he is a dangerous offender. This sentence is therefore entirely justified.”
