Dartford Postboxes Go Bonkers with Mr Blobby Makeover!
Just days after Royal Mail restored Dartford’s battered postboxes to their classic red, some have bizarrely reappeared splashed in pink and gold – straight out of Mr Blobby’s nightmare wardrobe! Locals spotted the weird new look on February 19, raising eyebrows across the Temple Hill area.
From Red to Gold, Now Pink & Gold Madness
The trouble started late January when 26 postboxes across Dartford were unceremoniously painted gold in a spree that police quickly labelled as “criminal damage.” Royal Mail scrambled to fix the mess, repainting the boxes red over the following weekend.
But the saga hasn’t ended. Instead, a handful of postboxes have been cheekily redecorated in pink and gold splotches, eerily channeling Mr Blobby, the infamous 90s TV character from Noel’s House Party. The odd paint jobs popped up at hotspots like Trevithick Drive, Welcome Avenue, Joyce Green Lane, and more.
Police Probe and Bail Update
Kent Police are hot on the trail of the pranksters behind this paint palooza. A man was arrested on February 13 linked to the original golden postbox vandalism but has since been released on bail until May 4 pending further questions.
Community Divided Over the Colourful Chaos
- Some locals love the fresh, quirky splash of colour – a cheeky twist on dreary street scenes.
- Others slam it as a pointless waste of public money and a slap in the face for tradition.
The postboxes didn’t stop at pink and gold – one on Farnol Road even sports a cow print in black and white. Other vibrant designs have been spotted on Keynes Road, St Vincent’s Road, Victoria Road, Pilgrims Way, and Fulwich Road.
What Next for Dartford’s Postboxes?
As the investigation continues, locals remain captivated by their suddenly colourful streets. Will the cheeky chaos continue or will Dartford’s iconic red postboxes soon return to normal? Only time will tell.
