Chippenham Man Slams Red Light in Porsche, Caught on Dashcam
A 46-year-old driver from Chippenham has been slapped with a hefty fine and penalty points after a cheeky dashcam caught him red-handed for careless driving in Corsham.
Speeding Through Red Light – Caught on Camera
David Simon Mayne was nailed at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on October 7. The footage, handed over by an off-duty cop, shows Mayne racing his Porsche Cayman past a red light at the Bath Road and Cross Keys Road junction just after 7pm on September 7, 2023. He dangerously overtook another car, ignoring the rules of the road.
Fined Over £2,000 and Six Points on Licence
Mayne pleaded guilty and was hit with a £2,185 bill covering fines and court costs. On top of that, his licence picked up six penalty points – a serious mark against any driver’s record.
“This offender was brought to justice thanks to a quick-thinking off-duty officer who sent us a video clip of Mayne’s careless driving,” said Sgt Bott from Wiltshire’s Roads Policing Unit.
