Tragic Birthday Horror as Sam Rimmer, 22, Shot Dead in Dingle Attack
Sam Rimmer was gunned down in cold blood on the very day he shared with his mum—his 23rd birthday. The young dad-to-be was with friends on Lavrock Bank, Dingle, late Tuesday night when two electric bikes roared into a cul-de-sac and opened fire on the group.
Birthday Bash Turned Deadly
At 11.40pm on Tuesday 16 August, the peaceful gathering turned into a nightmare. Police and ambulance crews battled to save Sam after he was hit, but he tragically died shortly after arriving at hospital.
Four suspects have been arrested and released on police bail, with the investigation ongoing.
Heartbreaking Tribute From Devastated Mum
“Today, Sam would have been celebrating his 23rd birthday,” said his mum. “He loved his birthday—it was extra special as we shared the same day.
“Every year he’d say ‘happy birthday Mumzy’ and it breaks my heart to know I’ll never hear those words again.”
“Sam was funny, caring, and loyal—the life and soul of every party with a laugh you couldn’t forget.”
“This month, Sam was due to become a father to a baby boy. It brings comfort that a part of him lives on, but heartbreaking to know baby Sam will never hear his dad’s laughter or feel his arms.”
“Our family is shattered—we will never recover. Sam made an impact on everyone he met. If you knew him, you loved him.
“Fly high, Sam. Watch over your son and all of us. We won’t rest until justice is served.”
Police Plea for Witnesses
Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath said:
“Our thoughts are with Sam’s family on what should have been a day of joy. We won’t stop until those responsible are caught.
“Several arrests have been made, but enquiries continue. We urge anyone in Lavrock Bank around 11.40pm on 16 August to come forward.
“Even the smallest detail or footage can help. Don’t assume we already have it—your info could be crucial.”
