Two Men Arrested Over 2017 East London Murder
Detectives have re-arrested two men in connection with the brutal killing of Ahmed Deen-Jah, who was stabbed to death in a Custom House shop back in April 2017. The 24-year-old was attacked in an unprovoked assault inside a convenience store.
Fresh Arrests Seven Years On
On Friday, October 25, 2024, two 26-year-old men were taken back into custody on suspicion of murder. Both remain held as police continue their probe into the shocking crime.
“It has been more than seven years since Ahmed was murdered, but my team remains determined to identify those responsible in order to place them before a court,” said Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen.
“We remain in contact with Ahmed’s family and will keep them updated on this morning’s development. I encourage anyone with information who hasn’t yet spoken to police to come forward. Please do the right thing.”
The Deadly Attack That Shocked East London
- The fatal stabbing occurred at around 3:20 pm on April 2, 2017.
- Ahmed entered the shop on Freemasons Road to buy a cigarette lighter.
- He briefly left but returned moments later, followed by a man in dark clothes, a balaclava, and gloves.
- The suspect chased Ahmed around the shop before delivering a fatal stab to the heart and slashing one of his hands.
- Despite the efforts of London Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance crews, Ahmed died at the scene.
- A post-mortem confirmed the cause of death as a stab wound to the heart.
Appeal for Information
Six people were initially arrested during the original investigation, but no charges were filed at the time.
