Woman Shot Dead in Early Hours on Leinster Road
Police were called to a house on Leinster Road shortly after 12:40am today after reports raised safety concerns. Officers found a woman in the back garden with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
She was rushed to hospital but tragically died. Detectives are working to formally identify her and notify next of kin.
Police Launch Murder Probe
Detective Superintendent Mark Baker confirmed the investigation is in its early stages. He said: “We have a number of officers on scene carrying out house-to-house and CCTV searches in the area to piece together what happened.”
He added, “This shocking event has shaken the local community. We will do everything we can to find those responsible and bring them to justice.”
Call for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
Officers are urging anyone around Leinster Road in the early hours who saw or heard anything suspicious to come forward. They are especially interested in anyone who caught anything on doorbell or dash cameras.
Detectives are also keen to hear from witnesses who spotted erratic driving near Prescot Road.
