London crook caught after smashing and snatching Mercedes in Langton Green
Christopher Grinham struck while a Dornden Drive family was away over New Year’s Eve, busting into their home and making off with jewellery, a telly, and a sleek Mercedes E250 parked on their driveway.
Grinham’s getaway exposed by Kent cops
Kent Crime Squad detectives quickly tracked the stolen Merc journeying from Tunbridge Wells to Croydon, accompanied by a hire car rented by one of Grinham’s mates. Further sleuthing nailed the connection – the dealer had scouted the scene before dashing back home.
Mercedes recovered, Grinham nabbed
The nicked Merc was found abandoned on a Surrey road in Addington. On Wednesday 11 January, Grinham, 43, from Kings Walk in South Croydon, was hauled in from his own pad.
Four years inside for burglary and car theft
Grinham copped to burglary, car theft, driving without insurance, and driving while disqualified at Maidstone Crown Court. On 29 March, he was slammed with a four-year prison sentence.
“Criminals from London think they can travel into Kent anonymously and commit crime without being arrested,” said Detective Constable Josh Littley. “Our investigations relentlessly pursue every lead to ensure offenders get an early morning visit from our officers and swift justice.”
