Shock Barnes Murder: Man Charged as Investigation Intensifies
Detectives probing the brutal killing of 53-year-old William Algar in Barnes have made a major move. A 19-year-old man has now been charged with his murder.
Suspects Charged and Court Dates Set
- Emeka Dawuda-Wodu, 19, with no fixed address, was charged with perverting the course of justice and appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on 17 March. On 6 July, he was formally charged with William Algar’s murder and remains in custody.
- Janayo Lucima, 18, from Longridge Road, SW5, initially charged with murder on 6 January, had that charge dropped. He now faces perverting the course of justice and was remanded at the Old Bailey on 10 June.
- Mark Harding, 44, of The Drive, Isleworth, faces perverting the course of justice charges. He appeared at the Old Bailey on 10 June and remains in custody.
- Simon Emmons, 40, of no fixed address, charged with perverting the course of justice, appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on 17 March and was remanded in custody.
Others Arrested, Released Pending Further Enquiries
- A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and preventing lawful burial but has been released under investigation.
- A 17-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder on 3 June is also released pending further enquiries.
Police Appeal for Information on ‘Blaise’
William Algar, known as Blaise to friends and family, was found dead at his Nowell Road home on 3 January. Detectives urge anyone who had contact with him in December 2019 to come forward.
